We have just recently returned from two-plus weeks in "sunny" Florida; however, the sun was not very warm this time around! It was not warm enough for us to even put our toes in the heated pools! However, our timeshare accomodations were warm and welcoming.
Our first week was spent at Sheraton Vistana Resort, an RCI Silver Crown Resort. This was a return visit for us, having stayed there a few years ago. Only minutes from Walt Disney World, this Resort offers spacious one- and two-bedroom villas, 13 tennis courts, seven swimming pools, seven hot tubs, an 18-hole miniature golf course, six recreation centers, two full-service restaurants and a poolside bar and grill, and a general store with Pizza Hut--all on 135 acres laced with fountains and lakes. Along with the Pizz Hut, there is an A&W, making delicious rootbeer floats!
During our second week we enjoyed a spacious 2bedroom unit right next to the pool at Orlando International Resort Club. We did not realize until we checked in that this resort is managed by Wyndham Vacation Resorts and is just a few blocks from Universal Studios. We enjoyed Bingo by the pool (I won)at this small, but nicely-run timeshare, which is an RCI Gold Crown Resort--definitely a "diamond in the rough"!
The last few days of our Florida visit were spent at Orange Lake Country Club's River Island Resort, another RCI Gold Crown timeshare. Orange Lake is one of our "home resorts", and home to the parent company, Holiday Inn Vacation Club. River Island is their newest facility; and we enjoyed a super-large 2bedroom unit. We played Bingo one day (they play everyday)and I won again! (can't believe it) At River Island, the main attraction is the Lazy River and you can spend hours just at that activity. Orange Lake is home to four timeshare resorts on 100's of acres adjoining Disney, with several restaurants, shops, and pools. They also offer complimentary transportation daily to and from Disney.
