Our first MCDC border watch operation for 2008 proved to be a busy and worthwhile enterprise. Border Patrol alerted MCDC that the annual post holiday rush has begun with a marked increase of humanity pouring across our southern border. MCDC operations concur as volunteers encountered record size groups making their way north from Mexico into the United States, through the Altar Valley. Working two near moonless nights, with temperatures dropping below freezing, volunteers using 3rd generation night vision and 3 thermal cameras, 2 mounted as Eye-in-the-Sky (EITS) systems spotted and reported 137 suspected illegal intruders to Border Patrol.
