In February we will be journeying again to Orlando for the annual hamfest, sponsored by the Orlando Amateur Radio Club. This will be the 62nd year for the Orlando HamCation, held at the Central Florida Fairgrounds. For hamfest information go here: http://www.hamcation.com.
Our "digs" for the week will be the Kingstown Reef, a WorldMarkTheClub timeshare resort. Kingstown Reef is on International Drive, centrally located to Walt Disney World(R) parks, Universal Studios, SeaWorld, the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando International Airport, and Orlando Premium Outlets. We plan to enjoy on site, three outdoor pools, two whirlpools, and a fitness center, when we are not at the Fairgrounds touring the hamfest bone yard (flea market for you non HAMs) or the indoor amateur radio dealer booths.
This annual Orlando sojourn has become a sort of "mecca" for friends, family, and old school chums. As a result, this year we will be entertaining two Sisters, HAM friends from Huntsville, AL, antique auction site friends from the Orlando area, and a high school chum and his wife, who will be RVing in the Orlando area for the Winter. It sounds like it is going to be a busy week!
